An Old Story 2

[Show/Hide]

Ehoi was determined to turn off the force field. In order for Eduum, Haiya, and their offsprings to survive they needed the real sun. He needed large quantities of energy to pull the atmosphere's dustclouds, and he needed to use what energy he had left for this task. After pouring all his energies into the lifeboat, he entered the coordinates, distance, and the speed. He filled it with solid hydrogen, and after fitting the high frequency wave that needed to have its modified uranium coating wave peeled off, he restored the engine that would replace the sun which was hanging at the top of the force field. The lifeboat had a fifty fifty chance of reaching the modified uranium dump site satellite. And in the dump site planet, he needed modified uranium that had not combusted yet. Since the current calamity was caused by the modified uranium waste in the seawater, which had not combusted yet, there was no doubt it still remained. Before removing the force field, he fitted Eduum and Haiya with protective radioactive suits and hid them in a tunnel. They had never experienced windstorms with velocities reaching over 150 m/hr. After Ehoi who was also wearing a protective suit tied himself to a rock, he took a deep breath and pressed the button. As soon as the force field disappeared, wind and rain poured down to the point it was difficult to breath. Trees, which had made fresh air and water inside the protective cover, were uprooted and tossed. "Will the lifeboat be able to pass through this storm?" Ehoi hesitated briefly but he had no choice. As soon as Ehoi pressed several buttons, the lifeboat shook and disappeared into the black clouds. "Is waiting the only thing left to do?" A rock chunk flew by Ehoi's side. There was no change in the skies. If things went according to expectation, the lifeboat should have been close to arriving at the dumpsite satellite. "If there is some modified uranium that has not completely combusted, an explosion powerful enough to blow away the atmosphere will occur when it reacts with solid hydrogen. Please…" Ehoi looked to the black sky with an earnest heart. It was a sky that only a hundred or so years ago looked so blue, it appeared green. Ehoi lost consciousness immediately after he heard a sound. He heard a dead sound from the sky as if ringing from a deep cave, and he lost consciousness as he felt an enormous shock to his forehead. The sound of Eduum and Haiya mumbling, the sound of footsteps… Ehoi slowly opened his eyes. There were… at that place. There was a beautiful blue sky. Although black clouds remained in several places, blue skies peaked between them. Eduum and Haiya looked at Ehoi with a worried looks on their faces. The protective helmet rolled off as soon as Ehoi got up. The forehead section of the helmet was cracked by the rock which had been tossed by the storm. * As soon as Ehoi dashed into his father's underground lab, a thermal storm swamped them. The moment he felt the thermal storm through the crack in the door, which was wide enough for a thumb to fit in, Rilliseu who was following him screamed. Rilliseu who was covering her eyes contorted her entire body and collapsed to the floor- her skin melted. It took three months for Rilliseu to regain consciousness. Rilliseu had lost nearly half her skin- she did not look human. She had only traces of her nose and mouth, and the bones of her hand, which she used to cover her eyes, appeared boney (because she had no skin). In place of her breasts, an electronic heart filled that spot, and white artificial blood pumped through artificial veins connected throughout her entire body. A respiratory organ was attached to her neck and a hose that extracted wastes dangled from her abdomen. But her eyes which she had traded with her hand were in perfect condition. Her lovely brown eyes- although she had lost her eyelids, they still maintained their previous beauty. As soon as Rilliseu gained consciousness, Ehoi attached a brain wave transformation vocal chip to her temple. "Please…turn off the heart switch." Rilliseu' s voice heard through the vocal chip pierced Ehoi's heart. "Rilliseu, we have survived because we have some remaining task left." As soon as Rilliseu gained consciousness, Ehoi rode a two-seater lifeboat and flew to the bioresearch lab. The lifeboat shook in the violent storm. There was no sign of the lab. Barren fields replaced buildings made of gold that had soared higher than five hundred meters. But he needed to find the (lab). In order to execute the plans he had made while Rilliseu was unconscious, he absolutely needed a molecular synthesizer. And he needed a third reproductive cell besides Ehoi and Rilliseu. Ehoi dropped an antigravity bullet that was used as children's toy from an altitude of 1,000 kilometer. "Pow, pow, pow." While sounding like stones dropped into a pond, the wavelength of the antigravity wave spread between the remains of the buildings. Within a hundred meters in all direction, all matter that was not fixed to the ground appeared like ghosts before flying away in the storm. Five minutes had elapsed- there was no more toy antigravity bullet to use. Ehoi took a nosedive and entered the large hole that had formed where the lab used to be. There was nothing intact inside the hole. Everything had melted and become thick like soup. The surveillance waves of the lifeboat searched every corner of the lab. The human preservation capsule was built to withstand the strongest of shocks. He needed to find the male and female reproductive cells of the highest quality genes preserved in the (capsule). "Bang- bang- pow." There was no time. The limits of the antigravity's effectiveness had seemed to have reached its limit as remains of the building starting to fall. The surveillance waves' voice messaging system clamorously rang. "Apprehension of capsule five meters ahead, partial destruction. Apprehension of molecular synthesizer, normal." "Quickly pick it up." Ehoi cried in a fluster. The gravitational beam pulled up the human preservation capsule, which was half melted down. Ehoi left the lab with the human preservation capsule and molecular synthesizer still attached to the gravitational beam. The remains of the building poured down like rain. Although he had set the force field to the life boat, the shock was still prodigious. "Seven are still of use." Rilliseu looked at Ehoi who was mumbling to himself while looking at the capsule. Among the capsules that preserved the sperm and eggs, only the capsule for purposes of preservation of eggs was safe. Fortunately, the molecular synthesizer was functioning. Ehoi moved all energy of the lab to the lifeboat. He needed to find a hilly desert void of water that was inland. If he created a force field in the desert and used the molecular synthesizer, they could last for about 1,000 years. But he had to use enormous energy to block the furious winds carrying rains. By amplifying the force field of the lifeboat, he used fifty percent of the energy to create a life zone two kilometers in diameter in the desert. He transformed the silicon of rocks and sand to create structures using the molecular synthesizer and he could make trees and grass by extracting plant cells from Rilliseu's natural chlorophyll clothes, but all this wouldn't matter if they did not have the sun. Having no choice, he modified the engine of the lifeboat and fixed it to the top of the force field as an artificial sun, which left them with enough energy to last just three hundred years. * The scale of the bio energy activation machine hovered between 1 and 2. The fertilized egg, which barely succeeded after using six of the seven eggs had been used, wriggled with the features of a human being. Rilliseu's eyes that looked at this creature grew faint. Rilliseu named the baby growing in the artificial womb made from her kidney Haiya. Rilliseu's kidney less body swelled in proportion to Haiya's growth. He could have easily made a kidney if he had a cellular blender but that was old news. "What is death?" Rilliseu's eyes looked hollow. "I don't know either." Ehoi's hand, which held Rilliseu's boney hand, quivered. "Please raise me up. I want… to see. The land…the land our child will live on…" Ehoi supported Rilliseu's shoulders and lifted her upper body from the bed. Rilliseu's body which had swollen to three times the size of Ehoi's body, looked like balloon filled with air. Flashes of light glimmered without a break across the dark land and skies of the world outside the force field. "Our children…how can they live in a place like that…" Rilliseu's voice hung together lightly. Ehoi strengthened his arms which were holding Rilliseu's shoulders. "I will make it. I will do whatever it takes to make that place livable for human beings. "I know you'll be able to… I believe…" Rilliseu's head dropped. Ehoi placed his cheek on Rilliseu's cheek which extended from her cheekbone. The bio energy activation machine connected to Rilliseu's heart indicated "0." Lightening flickered outside the force field, and rocks flying in the wind hit the force field unceasingly. It was some time after Ehoi was motionless, weeping with Rilliseu in his arms. * (C) Kyungah Cho The biggest problem for Ehoi while living inside the force field was to exercise strict control over the reproduction process between Eduum and Haiya. In a situation where it was impossible to satisfy sexual desire through using brain waves, there was a high probability that sexual desire using the body, which had not been used for thousands of years, would revive. Eduum and Haiya were Ehoi and Rilliseu's dream and the hope for all humans who had disappeared. If (Eduum) and (Haiya) did not exist, the living organism known as human beings would vanish from the face of the universe forever. For that reason, Haiya needed to get pregnant after she was completely ready biologically and mentally. In order to numb their sexual desires, the supply for other desires was offered without limits. All inimitable facilities like food and drinks, beds, and toys among others were reconstructed to match Eduum and Haiya's level, and everything was at their fingertips. Ehoi had taken down the force field because he felt betrayed by Eduum and Haiya. Three days before taking down the force field, Ehoi noticed something strange in Haiya and Eduum's behavior. Unlike previous times, Haiya and Eduum did not come out of caves or the shade of trees, and when they saw Ehoi they would avoid and slink away from him. It was something that (Ehoi) could not overlook. Ehoi called Haiya. "Haiya, is there something wrong?" Like a child being scolded, Haiya stood quietly with her head hanging. Ehoi looked at Haiya's abdomen. It was too big to think she had eaten a lot. "Haiya, is there something wrong? Speak to your father." As Haiya continued to maintain her silence even when he spoke in a gentle tone, Ehoi called for Eduum. However, he called (Eduum) several times but he did not come. When Ehoi looked for Eduum, he was cringing in the cave of tree roots. "Eduum, what are you doing there?" Eduum cringed even more the moment he saw Ehoi looking into the cave and speaking tenderly. An uneasiness overcame Ehoi's heart. "Eduum, tell me what's wrong so daddy can help!" Ehoi's voice became more tender. "I was bad, daddy. I didn't want to do it but Haiya kept…" "What… what did you do?" Ehoi was squatting down outside the cave. His voice trembled severely. "……." Ehoi felt his blood boil. "What exactly did you do?" "……." It was gradually becoming clear. Eduum was covering his genitals with both hands. "Tell me right now." "That game was more exciting than the other games… we only did it several times." Ehoi collapsed and everything turned black. But that was not the problem. How sexual intercourse was possible between them was the problem. Ultimately, it was not a natural act. To prevent the worst-case scenario, he had inserted a chip inside of Haiya's reproductive organ to reject Eduum for a designated period of time. He had taught them since childhood that they could do anything except remove that chip. And that chip could not be removed without outside help. Ehoi urgently looked for Haiya. "Haiya, tell me what happened." "If you go to that side, there is a small hole. An odd-looking long object came through that hole. It kept coming here…" Haiya pointed to her genitals. "And… So?" "It hurt at first, but when we keep doing it… it felt good." "When was this?" "I don't know. It's been a while… maybe three or four months." The force field was the problem. As the energy weakened, holes the size of forearms started to appear in several places near the surface. A long mutated phallus entered through that hole, and Haiya's womb, which knew nothing about the phallus, received the mutated phallus' sperm. All his effort to that point had gone for nothing. His dream of creating a new race that possessed genes not contaminated by radioactivity had collapsed, and Rilliseu's hope, which she had traded for with her life, disappeared, as well. Thinking everything was all right since they had told (Ehoi) everything, Eduum and Haiya continued to run joyfully inside the force field as they had done before. A heavy teardrops fell from Ehoi's eyes as he watched their innocence. Pure human being that could never be born again! He had no choice but to lament the natural laws that stated after a female of pure bloodline becomes impregnated by a mixed breed- even though she may engage in sexual intercourse with a male with a pure bloodline- she would not give birth to a child with a perfectly pure bloodline. Ehoi needed to make a decision whether to use the remaining energy to make the planet a dark land impossible for life forms to exist or to witness the birth of a race with the genes of mutated human beings. "Our children…in that kind of place… I know you'll be able to…" He heard Rilliseu's last words. The human race given birth to from Haiya's body would be the highest form among the human race which had evolved to become four legged creatures. However, since they could only receive half of Ehoi's abilities, they would become an unstable human race with inherent cruel violence. Ehoi himself could not predict their future. * Ehoi looked at his grandchildren. They possessed lucid eyes which resembled Eduum and Haiya. However, the first grandson did not have brown pupils like Rilliseu but a mixture of black and green. Ehoi had implanted a bio-defense nerve chip in Eduum, Haiya, and his grandchildren's brains. This nerve chip, which was smaller than the size of a fingernail, was their only weapon to protect them. As this chip was handed down from generation to generation, when finding themselves in an extremely dangerous position, this chip would allow them to exert enormous amounts of strength regardless of their will. Furthermore, Ehoi recorded on the chip in his own voice the prosperity and knowledge humans had enjoyed for 15,000 years. When humans reached the point they would be able to handle this prosperity and knowledge- although it seemed close to impossible, if by chance human beings continued to advance and the physically and mentally perfect human being Ehoi wanted to make appeared, he or she would be able to hear Ehoi's voice inside the chip as an auditory hallucination. Then, they would know the secret to the birth of the universe and the human race. While he turned off the force field, which Rilliseu called "Eden," he gave up the dream of this ever happening. Ehoi's work was done. Contrary to the intentions upon which Ehoi had created them, under the pretense of free will, they would decide their own fates. * Ehoi would shiver every time he saw Cain; he was born with a mixture containing mutated genes, which made up half. In Ehoi' eyes, because of his violence and desire to multiply, he was a mutated human being who could not control his erect penis. However, Abel was different. Although not perfect, he was his real grandson who had inherited his genes. Ehoi had some level of comfort because of Abel. Ehoi's rage regarding the wilderness tragedy of Cain killing Abel with a rock was his exclamation that he had lost his final hope. Ehoi could not have imagined that the cause of the event was his partiality for Abel. Ehoi did not know that the emotion "jealousy" an emotion he did not possess- existed within the new human race. Ehoi was buried next to Rilliseu, having lost all hope. If Ehoi had known about "Seth," his third grandson born to Eduum when he was 130 years old and the replacement for Abel, he would not have been so extremely sad about the future of the human race. After much time had passed, the descendents of Seth recorded the stories of their ancestors. …among living creatures…And the serpent said to the woman, you shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God… sent them out of the garden of Eden… And the Lord respected Abel and his offering, but He did not respect Cain and his offering… Cain rose against his brother Abel and killed him…And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth…Then men began to call on the name of the Lord… the days of Adam of were eight hundred years; he beget sons and daughters … So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.
